Dentro gli spazi sono ben distribuiti dando una bella sensazione di grandiosità A beautiful country church recently renovated. M	MARIO MORETTI ZOOM MASTER on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Arrivati a Dolcedo dalla Provinciale 11 (presa dal rondò all’uscita dall’autostrada di Imperia Ovest) e lasciata l’auto al Parcheggio Dolcedo in Viale delle Rimembranze, abbiamo proseguito a piedi fino ad arrivare in Piazza Doria. Qui abbiamo notato un bell’arco sotto l’edificio del Comune, con grande androne, dove nella penombra risaltano i tavolini in legno di un bar. Sul fondo dell’androne uno strano portone in legno ci ha incuriositi. Aperto il portone, ci siamo trovati con grande stupore in una piazzetta con suolo in acciottolato bianco e nero, dove spicca uno scalone che sale verso un porticato. Entrati nella piazzetta, il nostro sguardo è stato attirato dall’insueto colonnato, applicato, a protezione del portale del 400, alla base della facciata in stile barocco con colorazione bianca e verde della Chiesa di San Tommaso. Entrati nella Chiesa, siamo stati colpiti dalla insolita colorazione blu intenso (rifatta nel 1860), che riveste le colonne, le pareti e le volte delle tre navate a croce greca e della profonda abside. Questo crea un effetto di grande respiro, che fa sentire di trovarsi in un ambiente molto più ampio della realtà. La Chiesa, edificata dal 1717 al 1738, è completata da un alto ed armonioso campanile, che spunta a fatica dall’edificio stesso e dai tetti delle abitazioni circostanti. La Chiesa con la sua abside spicca nella vista del quartiere, cresciuto sulle sponde rocciose di stupendi torrenti confluenti. Arriving in Dolcedo from Provincial 11 (taken from the roundabout at the exit from the Imperia Ovest motorway) and leaving the car at the Dolcedo Parking in Viale delle Rimembranze, we continued on foot until we reached Piazza Doria. Here we noticed a beautiful arch under the town hall building, with a large entrance hall, where the wooden tables of a bar stand out in the penumbra. At the back of the entrance hall a strange wooden door intrigued us. After opening the door, we found ourselves with great amazement in a small square with black and white cobblestone ground, where a staircase that climbs to an arcade stands out. Entering the square, our gaze was drawn to the unusual colonnade, applied, to protect the 15th century portal, at the base of the baroque facade with white and green coloring of the Church of San Tommaso. Entering the Church, we were struck by the unusual intense blue color (redone in 1860), which covers the columns, walls and vaults of the three aisles with a Greek cross and the deep apse. This creates a large-scale effect, which makes one feel that one is in a much wider environment than reality. The Church, built from 1717 to 1738, is completed by a tall and harmonious bell tower, which barely emerges from the building itself and from the roofs of the surrounding houses. The Church with its apse stands out in the view of the neighborhood, grown on the rocky shores of beautiful confluent streams.
