Too close San Zeno to be "interesting" but don't underestimate it and "waste" some time

Church visible only externally, which preserves the remains of the fourth bishop of Verona, San Procolo.

One of the oldest churches in Verona, built like its contemporaries on a cemetery area, dedicated to the fourth bishop of Verona. Unfortunately it was the victim of numerous vicissitudes so that only a few traces of the foundations remain of the original construction. After being demaniaed by the French, in Austrian times it was used as a… stable!

The small church, which stands practically next to the majestic and wonderful Basilica of San Zeno, was built on the foundations of a previous early Christian church of the fifth century, rebuilt at the beginning of the thirteenth century and dedicated to the fourth Bishop of Verona. Subsequent interventions have partially compromised its original beauty until the use of theater in the nineteenth century and only in the 80s of the twentieth was it recovered for the faithful and visitors. On the outside, note the Romanesque-inspired façade with a beautiful octagonal window from the eighteenth century and the arch on the portal with remains of fourteenth-century frescoes. Inside, with a single nave, some paintings by Antonio Badile and Giambettino Cignaroli, funeral monuments of Santi (Euprepio, Procolo, Agapito and Cricino), an interesting Last Supper from 1764 by Giorgio Anselmi, the statue of San Procolo blessing (14th century .) and a valuable underground crypt with remains of the early Christian church
