★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Chiesa stupenda e Campanile di una bellezza unica. Pensate che gli anglo-americani avevano tentato di abbatterlo durante la Seconda Guerra Mondiale ed infatti la struttura, nella parte media bassa, reca delle scaffilture prodotte dalle schegge delle bombe.
Stunning church and bell tower of unique beauty. Just think that the Anglo-Americans had tried to tear it down during the Second World War and in fact the structure, in the lower middle part, bears shelves produced by the fragments of the bombs.

Il 15 maggio 1469, l'archimandrita Leonzio Crisafi pose fine alla lunga contesa circa la preminenza in ambito cittadino che ogni tempio vantava, pronunciando una piena equiparazione tra essi, stabilendo che ciascuno avrebbe esercitato a turno e per un anno, il diritto di preminenza. Il 24 gennaio 1493, il viceré di Sicilia Ferdinando de Acuña y de Herrera, conte di Buendía, emanò un'ulteriore direttiva che confermava l'equiparazione.

On May 15, 1469, Archimandrite Leonzio Crisafi put an end to the long dispute about the pre-eminence in the city that each temple boasted, pronouncing a full equality between them, establishing that each would exercise the right of pre-eminence in turn and for one year. On January 24, 1493, the Viceroy of Sicily Ferdinando de Acuña y de Herrera, Count of Buendía, issued a further directive confirming the equation.
