Francesco, nonostante gli interventi successivi, conserva più o meno intatto lo spirito medievale che inizia ad aprirsi al Gotico. La facciata reca piccoli sarcofagi a mo' di trabeazioni dei portali di ingresso. L'interno, ad eccezione dei lacerti di affreschi e delle sovrastrutture successive, presenta caratteristiche medievali molto marcate e mature. Coro tripartito, abside centrale molto sviluppata in altezza e profondità, decorazioni scultoree di pregio ma molto sobrie e leggere. La visita della chiesa consente di completare, insieme alle chiese di S. Francesco e S. Maria in Castello, il tour medievale a Tarquinia. Located in the area of the city near the main gate, in parallel with the church of S. Francesco, despite the subsequent interventions, it preserves more or less intact the medieval spirit that begins to open up to the Gothic. The façade bears small sarcophagi like entablature of the entrance portals. The interior, with the exception of fragments of frescoes and subsequent superstructures, has very marked and mature medieval features. Tripartite choir, central apse very developed in height and depth, fine but very sober and light sculptural decorations. The visit of the church allows to complete, together with the churches of S. Francesco and S. Maria in Castello, the medieval tour in Tarquinia.
C	Carlo Antonelli on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ La chiesa dedicata a San Giovanni Gerolosimitamo venne costruita nel XII secolo ed appartenne ai Cavalieri di Malta unitamente agli edifici adiacenti nei quali si notano stemmi dell'Ordine. Dalla facciata si comprende subito che la Chiesa è divisa in tre navate, è ispirata al lo stile romanico. Le navate laterali sono più piccole della centrale ed il pavimento risulta più basso. Lo stile corrisponde al periodo di costruzione, infatti altre chiese sono della stessa fattura. Negli anni ha avuto varie modifiche sia all'interno che all'esterno. Sembra che la facciata, in origine avesse tre porte di ingresso, poi da documenti fotografici ne risulta una sola, infine sono tornate le tre porte. All'interno vi sono dei resti di pitture risalenti al 1400/1500 e risultano come opere di Pier Matteo D'Amelia. Oggi visitandola si nota in fondo alla navata di destra una cappella dove è posizionato il Tabernacolo, nella cappella della navata di destra è posizionato il Battistero. L'ultimo restauro fu eseguito dal Maestro Lorenzo Balduini, la Chiesa e le sue navate laterali hanno cambiato aspetto. La navata di sinistra è stata riportata al suo splendore antico, Quella di destra è rimasta con l'intonaco dando an grande risalto al contrasto dei due stili. Con le modifiche dovute alla riforma dettata dal Concilio Vaticano II, venne tolto in vecchio altare e sistemato uno nuovo rivolto verso i fedeli. Dietro all'Altare, dove era il coro, si nota il nuovo organo. The church dedicated to San Giovanni Gerolosimitamo was built in the 12th century and belonged to the Knights of Malta together with the adjacent buildings in which you can see the Order's coats of arms. From the façade it is immediately clear that the Church is divided into three naves, it is inspired by the Romanesque style. The side aisles are smaller than the central one and the floor is lower. The style corresponds to the period of construction, in fact other churches are of the same invoice. Over the years it has had various changes both inside and outside. It seems that the façade originally had three entrance doors, then from photographic documents only one appears, and finally the three doors have returned. Inside there are the remains of paintings dating back to 1400/1500 and are the works of Pier Matteo D'Amelia. Visiting it today you can see a chapel at the bottom of the right aisle where the Tabernacle is located, while the Baptistery is located in the chapel of the right aisle. The last restoration was carried out by Maestro Lorenzo Balduini, the Church and its side aisles have changed their appearance. The left aisle has been restored to its ancient splendor, the right one has remained with the plaster giving great prominence to the contrast of the two styles. With the changes due to the reform dictated by the Second Vatican Council, the old altar was removed and a new one turned towards the faithful. Behind the altar, where the choir was, you can see the new organ.
