Si ritiene essere stata costruita per volontà di San Procolo, il primo vescovo di Carsulae, fra il 276 e 310. Fu poi distrutta dalle invasioni barbariche per poi essere ricostruita nel VI sec. per volere del vescovo di Narni, Costantino.
