Il fianco destro della chiesa (il tempio non ha una vera e propria facciata) è dominato dal portale principale, finemente decorato con volute vegetali; è ornato anche da colonnine pensili e sculture di animali. Un'opera di tufo rappresentante san Giovanni Battista occupa la nicchia sotto il rosone del grande timpano.
L'interno ha tre navate, delimitate da otto pilastri sormontati da capitelli decorati con motivi floreali e animali; la navata centrale presenta la volta a stella, mentre sulle navate laterali le grandi arcate trasversali formano volte a crociera.
Its architecture is mainly Romanesque, but influences of various styles are noted, such as the Arab one in the portals, Gothic in the arches and Greek due to its cross plan.
The right side of the church (the temple does not have a real facade) is dominated by the main portal, finely decorated with vegetable volutes; it is also decorated with hanging columns and animal sculptures. A tuff work representing St. John the Baptist occupies the niche under the rose window of the great tympanum.
The interior has three naves, delimited by eight pillars surmounted by capitals decorated with floral and animal motifs; the central nave has a star vault, while on the side aisles the large transverse arches form cross vaults.
