Da ammirare il crocifisso cinquecentesco del Maestro dei crocifissi bellunesi e la teca di santa Teodora realizzata da Andrea Brustolon. Nelle visite guidate che effetto in città faccio sempre visitare anche la cripta di santa Rita.
Interesting and important place of Feltre worship, in the historic center. ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ La chiesa di San Giacomo Maggiore è un’antica chiesetta di origini medievali (sec. XIV) localizzata nel centro di Feltre.
Rimaneggiata negli anni, così che il suo aspetto attuale risale all’Ottocento ed è opera di Giuseppe Segusini.
Conserva alcune caratteristiche più antiche come sono quelle del magnifico portale, scolpito nel Quattrocento e la lunetta che lo abbellisce, opera di Antonio e Alvise Vivarini.
All’interno c’è l’organo, opera ottocentesca di Giovan Battista De Lorenzi, la teca cui il crocefisso cinquecentesco, attribuito a Vittore Scienza.
Dopo la seconda guerra mondiale è radicata la venerazione di S, Rita da Cascia, che ha portato alla trasformazione della cantina in una cripta a lei dedicata. Il 22 maggio, festa della Santa, la chiesa si riempie per le numerose Messe e la statua è portata nella chiesa superiore ed esposta alla devozione dei fedeli.
The church of San Giacomo Maggiore is an ancient church of medieval origins (14th century) located in the center of Feltre.
Remodeled over the years, so that its current appearance dates back to the nineteenth century and is the work of Giuseppe Segusini.
It retains some more ancient features such as those of the magnificent portal, sculpted in the fifteenth century and the lunette that embellishes it, the work of Antonio and Alvise Vivarini.
Inside there is the organ, a nineteenth-century work by Giovan Battista De Lorenzi, the case where the sixteenth-century crucifix, attributed to Vittore Scienza.
After the Second World War, the veneration of S, Rita da Cascia, took root and led to the transformation of the cellar into a crypt dedicated to her. On May 22, the feast of the Saint, the church fills up for the numerous Masses and the statue is taken to the upper church and exposed to the devotion of the faithful.
