L'église de San Clemente est située à Costa.
Selon la tradition, l'église de S. Clemente a été construite sur un ancien édifice romain.
On suppose que le bâtiment préexistant était un temple dédié au dieu Saturne détruit par le roi lombard Aripert au VIIe siècle.
L'aspect nu de l'église est dû à la négligence et aux déprédations qui ont eu lieu au cours des siècles.
Il ne reste que deux toiles et représentent respectivement S. Antonio da Padova et S. Francesco da Paola. (Plus présentes lors de mon dernier passage)
L'église vaut le détour ne serait-ce que pour son emplacement splendide . De là, la vue s'étend sur le bassin qui accueille Edolo . Une restauration s'impose, quels dommages de laisser ce monument chargé d'histoire.
A small abandoned mountain church.
The Church of San Clemente is located in Costa.
According to tradition, the Church of S. Clemente was built on an ancient Roman building.
It is assumed that the pre-existing building was a temple dedicated to the god Saturn destroyed by the Lombard king Aripert in the 7th century.
The naked appearance of the church is due to the neglect and depredation that has taken place over the centuries.
Only two canvases remain and represent respectively S. Antonio da Padova and S. Francesco da Paola. (No longer present during my last visit)
The church is worth a visit if only for its splendid location. From there, the view extends over the basin that welcomes Edolo. Restoration is needed, what damage to leave this monument steeped in history.
