★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Della chiesa di S. Croce di Spiano si ha notizia per la prima volta nel 1309. Con buona probabilità la prima chiesa di cui abbiamo notizie è quella oggi corrispondente alla vicina “Terrasanta”. Molto probabilmente nell’anno 1595 viene avviata la costruzione della sede attuale. Ammodernamenti vengono apportati nella prima metà del sec. XVIII. La chiesa è stata danneggiata dal sisma del 1980, ultimamente vi sono stati i restauri. Ha forma di croce latina rovesciata con due cappelle all’inizio dell’unica navata. Tra le tele si ricordano: La Madonna del Rosario di Massimo Stanzione, La Battaglia di ponte Milvio e l’esaltazione della Croce di Michele Ricciardi. Di buona fattura l’organo. Altre decorazioni con stucchi al soffitto della chiesa vengono realizzate nel 1885 ad opera dei fratelli Conforti da Calvanico. Nel 1893 i “mastri” Luigi e Raffaele d’Orsi di Solofra ristrutturano il maestoso organo che fa bella mostra di sé con la cantoria in legno riccamente decorato in oro. Of the church of S. Croce di Spiano we have news for the first time in 1309. In all likelihood the first church of which we have news is that today corresponding to the nearby "Terrasanta". Most likely in 1595 the construction of the current headquarters began. Modernizations are made in the first half of the century. XVIII. The church was damaged by the earthquake of 1980, recently there have been renovations. It has the shape of an inverted Latin cross with two chapels at the beginning of the single nave. Among the canvases we mention: the Madonna del Rosario by Massimo Stanzione, the Battle of Ponte Milvio and the exaltation of the Cross by Michele Ricciardi. The organ is well-made. Other decorations with stuccoes on the ceiling of the church were made in 1885 by the Conforti da Calvanico brothers. In 1893 the "masters" Luigi and Raffaele d’Orsi from Solofra restructured the majestic organ which shows off with the richly decorated wooden choir.
