Il rosone è più recente, costruito dalle maestranze locali nel 1500, cavando pietre dalla vicina Pietragliate. Una chiesa speciale che porta i simboli fitomorfi delle tre religioni monoteiste: le gelosie traforate, le stelle di Davide e l'Agnus Dei. Non importa quale sia il tuo credo, tutti possiamo pregare. In 1101, pursuing who knows what dubious trades, the Templars had the Church of Sant'Agostino built in Trapani, facing the sea that spreads perfume all around. The rose window is more recent, built by local workers in 1500, quarrying stones from nearby Pietragliate. A special church that bears the phytomorphic symbols of the three monotheistic religions: the pierced jealousies, the stars of David and the Agnus Dei. No matter what your belief is, we can all pray.
G	Giovanni Abbagnano on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Ex Cappella dei Templari, dedicata nel 1101 a San Giovanni Battista, venne concessa da Federico III d’Aragona ai padri Agostiniani, che la ristrutturarono ed ampliarono conferendo l’aspetto attuale con facciata a capanna, ampio rosone ed abside poligonale. Divenuta chiesa del Senato, sul portale, dentro una nicchia, vi è una gaginesca Madonna col Bambino. Nel XIX secolo la chiesa, chiusa al culto, venne profondamente modificata. Il convento venne abbattuto. I bombardamenti del 1943 distrussero l’abside ed una parte della navata, in seguito ricostruite. Dell’assetto originario resta il prospetto principale. Oggi viene utilizzata come auditorium. Former Templar Chapel, dedicated in 1101 to St. John the Baptist, it was granted by Frederick III of Aragon to the Augustinian fathers, who renovated and enlarged it, giving it its current appearance with a gabled façade, large rose window and polygonal apse. Having become the church of the Senate, on the portal, inside a niche, there is a Gaginesque Madonna and Child. In the nineteenth century the church, closed to worship, was profoundly modified. The convent was demolished. The bombings of 1943 destroyed the apse and part of the nave, which were later rebuilt. The main façade remains of the original structure. Today it is used as an auditorium.
