Beautiful church, which I will surely return to see why it was closed: beautiful by day and night with the lights that highlight this ancient building. Whoever passes in front of me to go elsewhere I recommend stopping for a moment because this church is really beautiful.

different from how we imagine a church.not a fresco, no sacred furniture ... I would say minimalist.but despite the gray interior of bare stone ... imposing ... austere ... it conveys a beautiful feeling of sacredness.

Attendo risposta.
The Romanesque with its essential style evokes patience and strength of the soul and compactness of thought. In the parish this is found perfectly. The Masaccio museum, small, effective and poignant, has a flaw in the restored triptych: where did they make the wooden statue of San Nicola disappear with clothes from the 1700s? The guide advertises it but in the first case on the right it is not there! I await response.

I definitely recommend a visit, both for the beautiful church and for the museum behind it (Triptych by Masaccio, just to please): a concentration of art that deserves to be better known.

One of my favorite spots in Tuscany. The essence is kinda magic. Highly recommend walking by and feel it.

The pieve of Cascia is a beautiful building located in Reggello. It was built by order of the Countess Matilde di Canossa in 1150. Its majestic bell tower is 32 meters high and has inside four bells slightly dented by the bullets of the Second World War. Inside the church there is the fresco of the Annunciation by Mariotto di Cristofano, a native of San Giovanni Valdarno, a relative of Masaccio. The famous Trittico di San Giovenale or Trittico del Masaccio is preserved in the museum located at the back of the church. I personally advise all lovers of religious tourism to go to this magnificent place and admire the works of art and the structure of the church.
