La chiesa rupestre ricade su una proprietà privata accessibile da un cancello; è visitabile solo grazie alla guida di giovani volontari locali e Siciliantica. Fortemente degradata conserva al suo interno tracce di dipinti di inestimabile bellezza. Da vedere assolutamente. The rock church falls on a private property accessible by a gate; it can be visited only thanks to the guidance of young local volunteers and Siciliantica. L’apertura al pubblico e la sua fruizione, avvengono secondo date e modalità prestabilite dai volontari, durante tutto l’anno, oltre che in occasione delle giornate primavera del FAI. La Chiesa rupestre purtroppo ha subito grosse deturpazioni per mano dei vandali e delle condizioni ambientali del sito. Purtroppo l'opera di recupero richiederà molti soldi che speriamo giungano dal FAI e da quanti hanno a cuore questo straordinario luogo. The national initiative for "Places of the Heart" has financed in 2018 a first restoration. The opening to the public and its enjoyment, take place according to dates and preset modes by volunteers, throughout the year, as well as during the spring days of FAI. The rock church has unfortunately suffered great disfigurement at the hands of the vandals and the environmental conditions of the site. Unfortunately, the recovery work will require a lot of money that we hope reach the FAI and all who care about this extraordinary place.

R	Raf Ior on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ In occasione delle giornate del FAI, abbiamo visitato le bellezze artistiche di Lentini, che ci hanno piacevolmente sorpreso, ma quello che ci ha lasciato incantati è la Chiesa Bizantina Rupestre "Grotta del Crocifisso". Sita nella parte alta di Lentini, nella zona anticamente abitata dai sicani e dai greci, è un piccolo ma prezioso gioiello di arte bizantina e di misticismo. Purtroppo alcuni affreschi hanno risentito dell'abbandono e dell'incuria del tempo, ma altri, grazie al FAI, sono stati salvati e meritano di essere visti. Vi consigliamo di organizzarvi con associazioni del luogo che con le loro guide vi sapranno rievocare le atmosfere del tempo e la storia di questo incantevole sito. On the occasion of the FAI days, we visited the artistic beauties of Lentini, which pleasantly surprised us, but what left us enchanted is the Byzantine Rupestrian Church "Grotta del Crocifisso". Located in the upper part of Lentini, in the area once inhabited by the Sicans and the Greeks, it is a small but precious jewel of Byzantine art and mysticism. Unfortunately, some frescoes have suffered from the abandonment and neglect of time, but others, thanks to FAI, have been saved and deserve to be seen. We advise you to organize yourself with local associations that, with their guides, will know how to recall the atmospheres of time and the history of this enchanting site.

La chiesa è accessibile solo in alcuni giorni prestabiliti. Da segnalare il restauro in corso e la volontà della cittadinanza di rimuovere le tracce di degrado. Un plauso alle bellissime spiegazioni di Italo sulla chiesa e la sua storia e al signor Luciano nell'accompagnare i visitatori sul luogo. It has been possible to see this long forgotten pearl thanks to the activity of FAI and many local authorities, who have restored the long-lost dignity to the rock church. The church is only accessible on certain pre-established days. Note the ongoing restoration and the will of the citizens to remove traces of degradation. A praise to Italo's beautiful explanations about the church and its history and to Mr. Luciano in accompanying visitors on the site.
