1594 - XVI (preesistenze carattere generale)
Innanzitutto bisogna constatare che poche sono le notizie storiche che si possiedono su questa cappella del Suffragio, come d’altronde su tutta la cittadina non essendo stata scritta una storia locale, ma esistendo soli tentavi di un piccolo opuscolo che viene citato nella sezione riguardante la fonte e di qualche annotazione dello storico della diocesi. P. Francesco Russo riferisce che nel 1594 viene eretta la confraternita della Beata Vergine del Suffragio per le anime del Purgatorio
DescrizioneLa cappella del Suffragio, situata nel comune di Mormanno è costituita da, una navata principale con volta a botte, una navata laterale con volta a crociera e da uno spazio aperto destinato a sagrestia. Mediante una scalinata, che corre parallelamente al corso principale, si accede all’ingresso della chiesa che è posta ad una quota maggiore rispetto al piano stradale. Il prospetto, di modeste dimensioni, presenta un portale monumentale con cornice in pietra calcarea di colore grigio.

Description The chapel of the Suffragio, located in the municipality of Mormanno, consists of a main nave with a barrel vault, a side aisle with a cross vault and an open space intended as a sacristy. A staircase, which runs parallel to the main street, leads to the entrance to the church which is located at a higher level than the street level. The façade, of modest size, has a monumental portal with a gray limestone frame.
