A magical and enchanting place both spiritual and as an incredible location, a marvelous view of both the North and the South side, the eyes border the sea to observe territories on the other side of the Gulf as the North side can be seen from above the Umbrian forest with the whole landscape naturalistic, standing on the mane of the mountain.

D	Domenico Luciano Moretti on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ La chiesa, situata fuori dall'abitato di Monte Sant'Angelo, si dice sia stata costruita da San Francesco nel XIII secolo durante la sua visita al santuario dell'Arcangelo. Purtroppo come molte chiese del paese è stata rimaneggiata e ristrutturata ripetutamente fino al 1965 quando addirittura distrussero un altare barocco. Il portale è ancora quello del XIII secolo e l'abside ha una piccola nicchia del XVII secolo, periodo dell'ultimo rifacimento. Era totalmente affrescata ma tutti gli affreschi sono andati perduti per via della forte umidità (e dell'incuria dell'uomo). La chiesa purtroppo è quasi sempre chiusa ma vi consiglio di andarci per il panorama mozzafiato sulla valle di carbonara da un lato e il golfo e tavoliere dall'altro lato. Purtroppo gli ultimi restauri fatti sono stati indecenti (forse fatti da una ditta edilizia e nemmeno specializzata in restauri) ma il posto merita ancora una visita! The church, located outside the town of Monte Sant'Angelo, is said to have been built by Saint Francis in the 13th century during his visit to the sanctuary of the Archangel. Unfortunately, like many churches in the country it has been rebuilt and renovated several times until 1965 when it destroyed even a baroque altar. The portal is still that of the thirteenth century and the apse has a small niche of the seventeenth century, when the last renovation. It was completely frescoed but all the frescoes were lost because of high humidity (and neglect of man). Unfortunately, the church is almost always closed but I recommend you go for the breathtaking view of the carbonara valley on one side and the gulf and board on the other side. Unfortunately, the recent restorations were made indecent (perhaps made by a firm specializing in construction and even renovations) but the place still worth a visit!

La chiesa è situata su una collinetta a pochi chilometri dall'abitato di Monte Sant'Angelo (sulla strada che porta all'abbazia di Santa Maria di Pulsano, luogo del cuore FAI 2010). La tradizione vuole che essa fu fondata da san Francesco d'Assisi, mentre tornava dal suo pellegrinaggio al santuario di San Michele Arcangelo (patrimonio UNESCO) di Monte Sant'Angelo. La struttura è stata oggetto di rimaneggiamenti sino al 1965, quando fu distrutto un altare barocco. Fantastic place, where you can find peace and serenity. Unique panorama. The church is located on a hill a few kilometers from the town of Monte Sant'Angelo (on the road that leads to the abbey of Santa Maria di Pulsano, place of the FAI 2010 heart). Tradition has it that it was founded by St. Francis of Assisi, while returning from his pilgrimage to the sanctuary of San Michele Arcangelo (UNESCO heritage) of Monte Sant'Angelo. The structure was subject to alterations until 1965, when a baroque altar was destroyed.
