La teleferica era stata costruita dallo Zuccherificio di Sermide per trasportare materiali che arrivavano via acqua, con i barconi, dal Po allo stabilimento. In disuso per parecchi anni, agli inizi degli anni '6o fu trasformata in sede della Canottieri Sermide e così rimase fino a pochi anni fa quando fu abbandonata per motivi di sicurezza. Il recupero in atto dell'edificio “Ex teleferica” di Sermide, finalizzato alla realizzazione di un centro di educazione ambientale, è parte integrante di un progetto che vede la riqualificazione di tutta l'asta del Po e delle infrastrutture di supporto e di collegamento ad essa relazionate. All'interno del Sistema Parchi dell'Oltrepò mantovano, in cui è inserito il Parco Golenale del Gruccione di Sermide, il centro, unico nel suo genere, svolgerà una funzione di promozione della conoscenza delle specificità ambientali del territorio.

The cableway was built by the Sugar Factory of Sermide to transport materials that arrived by water, with the barges, from the Po to the establishment. In disuse for several years, in the early 6th century it was transformed into the headquarters of the Canottieri Sermide and so it remained until a few years ago when it was abandoned for security reasons. The recovery in progress of the "Ex teleferica" building in Sermide, aimed at creating an environmental education center, is an integral part of a project that sees the redevelopment of the entire Po auction and the support and connection infrastructures to it relate. Within the Mantuan Oltrepò Parks System, where the Goluccione Park of Sermide is inserted, the center, unique in its kind, will perform a function of promoting the knowledge of the environmental specificities of the territory.
