★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Insediato dal febbraio 2002 all’interno dei Cantieri Culturali alla Zisa, l’Institut français Palermo ne costituisce, assieme al Goethe-Institut, il polo internazionale. I Cantieri nascono dalla volontà del Comune di Palermo di rendere più dinamica l’espansione della città verso la periferia nord, trasformando in “cantieri culturali” una ex-area industriale abbandonata di 55 000 m², le “officine Ducrot”. Si trattava anzitutto di creare uno spazio euro-mediterraneo, multidisciplinare, aperto alle diverse culture del Mediterraneo, un laboratorio alternativo sul modello dell’area della Belle de Mai a Marsiglia, dell’Espace LU a Nantes, o, su scala più grande, della Villette a Parigi.
 Established in February 2002 within the Zisa Cultural Yards, the Institut français Palermo constitutes, together with the Goethe-Institut, its international hub. The Cantieri were born from the will of the Municipality of Palermo to make the expansion of the city towards the northern suburbs more dynamic, transforming a former abandoned industrial area of 55,000 m², the "Ducrot workshops", into "cultural sites". It was primarily a question of creating a Euro-Mediterranean, multidisciplinary space, open to the different cultures of the Mediterranean, an alternative laboratory modeled on the Belle de Mai area in Marseille, the Espace LU in Nantes, or, on a larger scale, the Villas in Paris.
