★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Solo da pochi giorni, la Veneranda Fabrica del Duomo ha aperto questa storica cava alle visite guidate. Con un biglietto che si deve acquistare online (su duomomilano.it) si può vedere il cuore del Duomo di Milano là dove madre natura fornisce, sin dal XIV secolo, la pietra che dona al monumento più noto di Milano l’inconfondibile colore rosato.
Con l’aiuto di una guida della Fabrica venite condotti nei luoghi e nella storia di questo capolavoro percorrendo le varie fasi di lavorazione; dall’estrazione dei blocchi, fino alla scultura artigianale degli inserti destinati alla Cattedrale ambrosiana.
Vale la pena anche per lo splendido panorama della valle del Toce.
Only a few days ago, the Veneranda Fabrica del Duomo opened this historic quarry to guided tours. With a ticket that must be purchased online (on duomomilano.it) you can see the heart of the Milan Cathedral where mother nature has provided, since the fourteenth century, the stone that gives the most famous monument in Milan its unmistakable pink color.
With the help of a Fabrica guide, you will be led to the places and history of this masterpiece through the various stages of processing; from the extraction of the blocks, to the handcrafted sculpture of the inserts destined for the Ambrosian Cathedral.
It is also worthwhile for the splendid panorama of the Toce valley.
