Complimenti a chi ha deciso l'illuminazione: la sera il paese sembra un presepe. G	Gaetano Cavaleri on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ IL castello Obertengo e stato un edificio difensivo e residenza signorile in epoca feudale del borgo medioevale di Arcola in Val Magra nella provincia di La Spezia .Dopo i restauri effettuati nel 1884 ..il palazzo sito in piazza Ugo Muccini in prossimità dell'antica torre Obertenga e sede odierna del municipio .Dopo l'invasione e il saccheggio da parte dei Normanni e dei Saraceni ..Arcola riemerse alla luce della storia con l'undicesimo secolo sotto il dominio degli Obertenghi che costruirono il castello una delle più potenti creazioni feudali dell'alto Medioevo .Collegato al mare con il Muggiano e San Bartolomeo ebbe importanti funzioni navali nella marca ligure occidentale .I signori di Arcola furono anche Marchesi di Massa e Corsica .Nel 1128 divenne proprietà del monastero di San Venerio del Tino .Venuto in possesso dei Malaspina il castello fu assediato dal Capitano Alberto Doria ..e conquistato nello stesso anno i Malaspina lo vendettero ai genovesi .Alterne vicende portarono poi all'occupazione del castello da parte di castruccio Castracani 1320 ..poi di Nicolo Piccinino Capitano Generale di Filippo Maria Visconti duca di Milano 1430 ..Genova riuscì tuttavia a riconquistare il castello istituendovi una Podestaria .Le tumultuose vicende storiche conseguenti alla rivoluzione francese ed alla campagna ditalia di Napoleone coinvolgono anche le nostre zone nel 1779 ..i franco liguri combattono contro le truppe d'invasione austro russe .Nel corso del bombardamento vengono colpiti e danneggiati sia il castello che la torre ..IL primo verrà restaurato nel 1884 ..dall ingegner Canini e adibito a uso palazzo comunale . R	Rosanna “Rosy” Rosy on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Il castello è posto nella parte più alta del paese, con vista strategica su tutta la vallata, la costruzione risale agli inizi del XII secolo ad opera degli Overtenghi. Nel XIII secolo subì parecchi assedi, nel 1278 la rebuppica Genovese conquistò il feudo, da questo assedio rimase solo la Torre. Fu ricostruito e convertito in palazzo feudale, nel 1320 assediato da Castruccio Castracani, nel 1436 ritornò in possesso della repubblica genovese. Ad oggi e sede del municipio, fu costruito sul sito dell'antico castello obertengo nel 1885. Il castello è ricco di storia. Davanti al castello c'è un bel piazzale con una bellissima vista sui tetti del borgo da una parte. Dall'altra parte si può osservare tutta la vallata del Magra, e la sottostante chiesa di S.Nicolò. Mi dispiaciuto vedere che la scala che portava alla piazzola della chiesa sia in abbandono ed attualmente inagibile, spero che venga ripristinata perché è molto bella!
