Castello del Guado

We spent a magical day at Castello del Guado. We got married in the frescoed church adjacent to the castle that allows you to walk around after the celebration, a not inconsiderable comfort! At the Castle, both internal and external environments are very well kept and rich in history. The service offered can be summarized in one word: impeccable. Nothing is left to chance. Friendly and extremely helpful owners. Excellent catering service. Exceptional quality and service.

Small, intimate, cute and distinctive for a ceremony. Little space for large groups and a little lack of lighting in general both inside and out (where it creates atmosphere). Not particularly cared for what surrounds him. For the bride and groom, there are no open spaces where you can take pictures except for the small courtyard (very beautiful) and the small garden in front, which, however, are equipped for an aperitif during a reception and therefore full of guests and tables. Inside it is not possible to enter the upper rooms even as spouses if not accompanied and supervised. Since the spaces are limited, weddings are standardized a little: arrival only from there, buffet only there, entrance from there, cutting cake there, throwing bouquets only from the balcony, Spouses entrance only from the gate, etc. ... Beautiful upper rooms with bar area and ballroom. Friendly managers the bare minimum.

Details make the difference! Here we are reviewing the best day, because we would do it exactly like this! We come to the practical: convenient parking, medieval church next to the castle, connecting tunnel that in 30 seconds on foot takes you from the churchyard to the Castle Garden. Paolo, the castellan, a former photographer with a passion for restoration has made the location, already wonderful in itself, a veritable wedding favor! Everything is well-kept: lights, perfumes, music, salt preparation. We don't know how to explain it, it's almost subliminal, but there are no forgetting and everything takes on the dimension of a welcoming place, where you feel at home and where details make the difference. Welcome to the internal court, whose amphitheater opens to the aperitif in the garden. Rooms on the ground floor for dinner and upstairs for open bar and disco room, where we played live (ceiling beams and parquet make the acoustics excellent). Catering top with Ramella Banqueting congratulations to Ivan, Andrea and Carlo (discreet and perfect to follow us during the evening)! Great place to celebrate weddings and other events.

Beautiful castle of very ancient origins, with rather small but well-kept outdoor spaces. There are beautiful rooms for lunch or dinner and large rooms to celebrate even dancing.

Excellent location for weddings. It seems to be in a fairy tale and the owners are nice and welcoming.

Seen only from the outside because it is closed and I have not found information panels giving information on the manor (access to the path closed by a chain). However it deserves three stars because it constitutes an important historical memory. On the other hand, the signs to get there are good (it is indicated as "Castle" of Castelletto Cervo). Through news found on the web we know that it is private and is a location for weddings and events. One side overhangs the ravine and below is the road, be careful. The name "del Guado" must refer to the fact that the Cervo river flows right under the castle. This position was strategic and also allowed the control of the ancient road that went up from Vercelli towards the eastern Biellese. The origins of this manor are very ancient: it is mentioned since 1095-1096 but it is not known what form it had at that time; the investiture deed dates back to 1141. In 1260 some bastions are mentioned that probably protected the original nucleus of the building, dominated by a tower. This is mentioned in the document of 1446 which certifies the presence of a toll imposed by the Alciati on the wine in transit at the ford of the Cervo: the proceeds were in fact used for the maintenance of the fortification. The complex must have been a castle-shelter (there is no longer any trace of the shelter). Around the fourteenth-fifteenth century the manor was enlarged and between the seventeenth-eighteenth century it was transformed into a dignified country mansion which, over the years, slowly fell into ruin. After having known the glories under the Counts of Canavese, those of San Martino, the Liatta, the Alciati and the Nomis, it remained abandoned and semi-ruined. Until it was bought by private individuals and restored; it was first opened to the public as a museum of ancient weapons. In some rooms it currently houses a collection of three-dimensional (anaglyph) images from the early twentieth century. On the side stands the ancient church of San Tommaso Becket.
