 It feels like an out of this world place that takes you back a century. Suitable for a picnic as well as camping in a tent with a real outdoor experience.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Antico villaggio di pastori costituito da una ventina di fabbricati diruti ed in buona parte crollati ed inagibili, in passato utilizzati come stalle, rimesse attrezzi, pagliai ed abitazioni al secondo piano. Attualmente solo le stalle nella parte bassa sono utilizzate per il ricovero del bestiame, mentre tutto il resto é abbandonato. La posizione, addossata ad un pendio lungo i Prati di Cottanello a circa 800 metri s.l.m., é panoramica su tutti i pascoli circostanti. A fianco al villaggio una strada sterrata con alcuni tornanti porta ai Prati di Sopra, veramente belli, con pochi grandi cerri ed aceri in mezzo ad una ampia distesa di pascoli. Lungo la strada si incontrano cavalli, bovini, pecore e capre ed isolati gruppi di maiali al pascolo brado: tutto il bestiame appare indisturbato e non si cura del passaggio degli escursionisti, mentre i cani che fanno la guardia alle greggi di pecore possono mostrarsi aggressivi, ed occorre essere prudenti e non avvicinarsi.
Ancient shepherds' village made up of about twenty crumbling and mostly collapsed and unusable buildings, in the past used as stables, tool sheds, haystacks and houses on the second floor. Currently only the stables in the lower part are used for the shelter of the cattle, while all the rest is abandoned. The location, set against a slope along the Prati di Cottanello about 800 meters s.l.m., is overview of all the surrounding meadows. Next to the village a dirt road with some bends leads to the really beautiful Prati di Sopra, with few large oaks and maples in the middle of a wide expanse of pastures. Along the way one encounters horses, cattle, sheep and goats and isolated groups of wild grazing pigs: all the livestock appears undisturbed and does not care about the passage of the hikers, while the dogs guarding the flocks of sheep can be aggressive, and one must be cautious and not approach.
