A second visit about a year later and sorry to say it was disappointing this time around, reduced rating to 2* as result. Service and welcome still warm, but the food this time was just ODD across a number of courses & dishes - just felt as though they were trying too hard to be experimental, but had missed the premise of trying to make the best of a few good ingredients, opting instead to put lots on a plate. The result was a busy mix of flavour and texture combinations which were unfortunately not as pleasant as I’m sure they were intended. Whilst service was attentive, it also felt like we were being raced through the courses - as portions are very big it made it a challenge to manage a full four courses and took some of the enjoyment out of the experience.

Rated 4* - A lovely setting and a warm welcome. Short menu (restaurant mentions ‘slow food’ philosophy on website). Portions are large, so beware not to order too much! Great tasting food and delicately presented. Thanks for a good meal!

All the quality of a Michelin one star with none of the fuss and pretession. A real gem. Great wine list too. Go there before everyone knows about it.
