With a group of seven winelovers between 20 and 70 years of age, we headed for San Gemini in Umbria where the estate of Violati wines has been established a long time ago.
It was quite a revelation: not just the very good wines we enjoyed during the tastings: the three hours experience was so much more. A walk around the estate surrounded by beautiful scenery, a visit at the caves and an explanation about the process of winemaking by Valentina who guided the tour.
Valentina is an expert who pairs knowledge with an entertaining style of presentation. And her genuine enthusiasm seems without bounderies. Her stories about the colourful Violati family, present in historic photo’s and objects in the museum like tasting room, sounded like the script of a romantic film. An experience so much more than a wine tasting. That’s why we highly recommend it!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ In July 2021 I had a tasting at Violati with family. Valentina Dionigi the export manager, showed us Violati, a very modern winery with excellent wines, red as well as white. In her Violati has a fantastic representative of the company. She is so enthusiastic and with a lot of knowledge she spoke about the several wines. Although every wine was interesting, the Chiliegiolo and the Grechetto ( grapes of Umbria) we like most. The winery does not exist very long, but what we tasted, was extremely good. A good price quality wine, that’s for sure! When you are in Umbria a visit is a must!! Ask for Valentina
