We arrived here last week, tired, and afraid that the place would be closed, as were many campsites in Abruzzo in mid-October. We were overjoyed to see the smiling face of the woman who opened the gate for us, and welcomed us as old friends. The site is quiet and beautiful, with much room (which we didn't need, as we were alone). The showers cost money, but it doesn't matter, as the basic price is lower than most other sites. We got a lot of hiking information, though we didn't have the time. Both the man and the woman who run the place are friendly and helpful. We highly recommend this campsite.

Very friendly staff and good campsite. Very responsive communication via e-mail. We choose Camping Lo Schioppo due to the location from Rome (+/- 1,5 hours) and Abruzzo parks(1 to 2 hours depending on what you like to see). Campsite is run by a very nice family of which the grand daughter speaks excellent English and gave us a lot of local tips. Campsite is around 30 mins from the main road, right at the edge of the Lo Schioppo park. You can do a small +/- 3.5km or big +/- 2 hour hike through the forest starting right at the front of the campsite. There are a few small waterfalls en one small lake to see. Advice is to do this early morning or/and week days. During the weekend the locals go to the forest and it can be very busy. The big waterfall shown on the website is only visible till mid may, due to the temperatures the water quickly dries and the waterfall disappears. Spots are one of the largest we have seen, althought not sure when fully booked, when we came it was very quite (end of July). There is electricity for all spots on a few central places, but easily accessible. Bbq on cole or wood is allowed, this is rare in italy as we have had a few campsites next or in national parks that didn't allow this. Showers (€1 for 3min) and toilets are basic, but OK! Kept well cleaned. Keep in mind this is a campsite that has a lot of small rocks on the ground and you have to look for a good spot if you are staying with a tent, but there is plenty enough room to choose from (also with shade). Every morning around 09.00 a local backery comes to the campsite were you can get your fresh bread. The front desk also has a small shop with cold soda/ beer/ local wine/ ice creams and some candy, they sell at a reasonable price (cash or card). There is also a good quality free WiFi. Only advice is to check the campsites website on what kind of events there having. We arrived with the idea of a very peaceful and quite campsite and found ourself surrounded by scouts having a long weekend trip. For us it was OK, but I can imagine that some people wouldn't like the noise and activity. As far as we know there is no washingmachine for cloths. All in all a great campsite, one to recommend!
