We were there in winter, but apparently you can also go swimming there in the summer, although it is a rocky beach interspersed with thistles, so you might want to bring bathing shoes and chairs to sit on. Dirt road, which can be hard to get through by car and turns into an absolute mud bath for weeks after heavy rain.
