Cala del Re Restaurant Licata

This is well overpriced place with average food and service. If you want to have a rest on the beach with glass of prosecco and salad, be ready to pay over 80€ :) With extremly high price, there was almost no guests...which was good??

Before reading my review: the car park supervisor deserves a tip because he is really very friendly. What bothered me was the behaviour and the little financial tricks of the owners. In terms of behaviour, people outside of the private beach are hardly allowed to buy a bottle of water at 30+ degrees. After paying 35 euros for a sunshade, 1 euro is demanded for the shower and a coperta of 5 euros for the service. There is nothing wrong with the beach, it is small and beautiful.

Very good Restaurant and wonderful private beach with facilities ( e.g.WC, parking, etc) and Bar to enjoy the day.

Each beach experience is unique for each person. Some people are repulsed by the idea of paying €25 for 2 beds and a parasol, others are ok with this. I’ve certainly paid a lot more elsewhere. So, assuming you are comfortable with the above, I rate 5 stars! Beautiful bay and decent restaurant immediately above the beach. There is also a bar (separate to the restaurant) and it appears to only sell soft drinks and beer (ie no wine or cocktails), however my Italian language skills are woefully inadequate so that may not be accurate! As others have commented, the lifeguards truly do “guard” the beach. On many occasions they stopped unauthorised people entering, boats coming too close, and also people (including us) from playing with our bat and ball - I suppose they are there to keep the peace! Overall wonderful.

The view is wonderful, the food is good, although a bit overpriced - you clearly pay for the location. The beach just below the restaurant is managed by other people, you have to pay extra to access it - but the restaurant owners will gladly explain how to access a free beach on the same beautiful bay!
