★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We decided to give it a chance. It was an error of judgment I sincerely regret. The location is nice, but that’s about it. First of, Julius Meinl coffee is like serving bread rolls from a supermarket. Those who aspire to do better than average would make an effort. For example, they’d procure single origin coffee (locally roasted if possible) and brew it to a certain standard. If coffee is at the center of what you do, you might as well try, do it well, and stand out to avoid being just another random & generic coffee place. Why then below average? Well… we asked for a fresh juice and were told that it wasn’t available. Then we wanted a bombardino. They said okay, but it could only be served without whipped cream. Seriously? Most of us couldn’t order items that we originally chose from the menu, so we had to settle for something else. We couldn’t get anything that would show a little bit of craft, ingenuity or authenticity. And eventually, we couldn’t even pay by card, which should be pretty standard nowadays (honestly, if I were them, I wouldn’t even dare to charge us). It was a dreadful experience.
