Una felice sopresa. Durante l’intero soggiorno Γ¨ il miglior pasto che abbia consumato. Bel locale, personale gentilissimo e disponibilissimo. Ottime e buone pietanze locali. Prezzi molto permissivi.
A happy surprise. During the entire stay it is the best meal I have ever had. Nice place, very kind and extremely helpful staff. Excellent and good local dishes. Very permissive prices.

Soluzione originale per un pranzo o una cena con piatti della tradizione ossolana ben cucinati e serviti. Ambiente semplice e accogliente, da non perdere il seminterrato con locale/grotta a vista di affinamento formaggi. Ottima la soluzione di abbinare ristoro e bottega dove fare eventualmente acquisti di prodotti locali. Rapporto qualita'/prezzo abbastanza equilibrato al ristoro; nella norma per i prodotti della bottega. Forse si poteva fare di piu' sul prezzo dei formaggi in po' sopra la media... Rivedrei la qualita' degli gnocchi (in vendita) alle castagne e zucca.... deludenti. Semplici gnocchi senza particolari caratteristiche .... solo piu' cari....
Original solution for a lunch or dinner with traditional Ossola dishes well cooked and served. Simple and welcoming environment, do not miss the basement with a visible room / cave for cheese aging. The solution of combining a restaurant and a shop where you can buy local products is excellent. Quite balanced quality / price ratio at the restaurant; in the standard for the products of the shop. Perhaps more could have been done on the price of cheeses that were slightly above average ... I would review the quality of the gnocchi (for sale) with chestnuts and pumpkin .... disappointing. Simple gnocchi with no particular characteristics .... only more expensive ....

Ci sono passato davanti tante volte finchΓ© non mi sono fermato per la pausa pranzo… E che dire, un buon primo anche se la pasta era leggermente scotta, un ottimo secondo di carne che… e nulla l’ho spazzato via facendo anche la scarpetta con il sughetto! Non la perfezione ma di sicuro un ottimo ristorante!
I walked past it many times until I stopped for lunch ... And what can I say, a good first course even if the pasta was slightly overcooked, an excellent second course of meat that ... and nothing I wiped out even making the shoe with the sauce! Not perfection but for sure a great restaurant!

I have returned after 4-months and my 5-star rating remains! This time, it was just my son and I, neither of whom spoke or understood Italian. The service staff was welcoming and spoke no English. They refused to give me a menu (I do know Italian dishes!) as they would recite the day's plate-du-jour and specials (I think they had only 3 or 4 choices that day). After a few minutes, the CHEF came out. She spoke English well but was happier when we conversed in French. True to it's reputation, they served only local produce. That day was mushrooms from the mountains. BTW, only order appetizers if you are a truly HEAVY eater. I had the special and the primo piatto was almost a full meal. The mushrooms with the cheese were almost melting as the aroma and flavor enveloped my mouth. The 2nd course, Beef, was HEAVENLY. The almost 4-hour train ride and the difficulties (more like fun) of finding non-English speaking service staff were the spices to a wonderful and excellent value-for-money meal. Sadly, we had to catch the train back so, we were not able to enjoy some dessert or to buy some items from their shop. BTW, request to be seated in the basement. Wonderfully cool, excellent ambiance, way classier than the ground-floor canteen-like setting. I will be back (again).
