Is there anything better than a fish dinner with a glass of cool white wine? If you are thinking of having a good time with your friends, I recommend you coming to “Boccaccio, il pescatore” in Villa San Giovanni.
Have you ever been there? It is easy to reach, and people enjoy visiting it for its breath-taking position thanks to a spectacular and magic scenery, being located on the channel in front of Sicily. It has been open for about 50 years and the members of this family run the restaurant on their own. They usually tell their grandfather Boccaccio’s adventures, who was a fisher, in fact the restaurant was called after him and it has been passed from father to son.
The speciality is fish. The owners of the restaurant go fishing every morning and the chef cooks high-quality food, serving fresh fish and seasonal ingredients from local farms.
If you are intolerant or allergic to something, you can order a great variety of dishes.
I suggest you should try the typical dish: Boccaccio’s spaghetti. It is tasty and spicy, but believe me, it is worth it!
Well worth the money you pay! What more could you wish for?

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It is hard to express in words how wonderful our experience was at Boccaccio. There are times when Italy is just so “Italian”. This was one of those nights. Absolute magic!
We were staying in a nearby B&B where the owner suggested we give Boccaccio a try. I’m so glad we did!
Our host first apologized for not having a large selection of fish as he only buys what’s good… and fresh that day. Forget ordering from a menu, let him decide! We were then given a meal that we’ll remember for a very long time! The fish was AMAZING! The host was AMAZING! The rest of the staff was…. AMAZING! It was one of those perfect Italian restaurant experiences… not like the manufactured tourist places, this was REAL Calabrian hospitality! When you want “authentic”, this is… it.
I simply cannot recommend this place highly enough! Go there and find out! It’s…. AMAZING!
