★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Basilica imponente a tre navate . Molto ricca di decorazioni, affreschi, altari e opere di vario genere. Un Monumento davvero interessante visitato anche da Papa Giovanni Paolo II.
Conserva il corpo di un santo-martire ( San Maurelio).
L edificio fu' la prima cattedrale di Ferrara... titolo poi trasferito all attuale cattedrale di epoca successiva ( che ne conserva l intitolazione San Giorgio).
Grosso problema:
La Chiesa é priva di un adeguata illuminazione ( anche a pagamento) pertanto la visita risulta limitata e poco efficace.
Si nota la presenza di una comunità viva e attenta al suo patrimonio.
Avrebbe bisogno di maggiori restauri ma mi congratulo per quelli eseguiti nel
" possibile ".
Esorto maggiore attenzione nel mantenimento di tale patrimonio e maggiore promozione turistica.
Propongo in includerla in un percorso turistico della città di Ferrara .
 Imposing basilica with three naves. Very rich in decorations, frescoes, altars and works of various kinds. A really interesting monument also visited by Pope John Paul II.
It preserves the body of a saint-martyr (San Maurelio).
The building was the first cathedral of Ferrara ... title then transferred to the current cathedral of a later period (which retains the title San Giorgio).
Big issue:
The Church lacks adequate lighting (also for a fee) therefore the visit is limited and not very effective.
We note the presence of a community alive and attentive to its heritage.
It would need more restoration but I congratulate those carried out in
"possible".
I urge more attention in maintaining this heritage and greater tourism promotion.
I propose to include it in a tourist route of the city of Ferrara.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Bellissima Basilica, dedicata a S. Giorgio, protettore di Ferrara. È anche la più antica... Stupenda la sua facciata principale, il campanile a base quadrata, ma il vero splendore è al suo interno, completamente affrescato... Tre bellissimi altari, ma quello centrale, il principale, è veramente meraviglioso ed il colpo d'occhio con l'abside completamente decorato ed affrescato é notevole. Al suo interno il corpo di San Maurelio. Meraviglioso anche il chiostro a pianta quadrata, che si sviluppa alla destra della chiesa... Una vera meraviglia, assolutamente consigliata una visita...
Beautiful Basilica, dedicated to St. George, protector of Ferrara. It is also the oldest ... Its main façade is wonderful, the bell tower has a square base, but the true splendor is inside, completely frescoed ... Three beautiful altars, but the central one, the main one, is really wonderful and the a glance with a completely decorated and frescoed apse is remarkable. Inside the body of San Maurelio. Wonderful also the square-shaped cloister, which develops to the right of the church ... A real wonder, a visit is absolutely recommended ...
