M	Michele Sabella, Benevento on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ La cattedrale non è solamente un luogo di culto; nel 2012 con la riapertura quello che doveva essere lavoro di ristrutturazione si è rivelato il compimento di uno spettacolare progetto di "lighting design": pavimenti divelti, impalcature e perfino una gru all'interno: si è trattato di un vero e proprio restauro industriale nel corpo di un gigante di duemila metri quadri. Il risultato lascia senza fiato. The cathedral is not only a place of worship; in 2012, with the reopening of what was to be renovation work, it turned out to be the completion of a spectacular "lighting design" project: torn floors, scaffolding and even a crane inside: it was a real industrial restoration in the body of a giant of two thousand square meters. The result leaves you breathless.

Quasi completamente distrutta dai bombardamenti alleati del 1943, la cattedrale è stata poi ricostruita ed adibita a museo diocesano nei piani inferiori. Sotto di essa si racchiudono mille anni di storia, dal primo tempio di età classica fino alle più recenti testimonianze dei bombardamenti. Assolutamente da visitare almeno una volta. The Cathedral of Benevento is the city's basilica par excellence. Almost completely destroyed by the Allied bombing in 1943, the cathedral was then rebuilt and used as a diocesan museum on the lower floors. Under it there are a thousand years of history, from the first temple of the classical age to the most recent evidence of the bombings. A must visit at least once.

Situata a pochi passi del Corso Garibaldi di Benevento. Riaperta da pochi anni dopo opere di ristrutturazione. Se si è di Benevento o ci si trova in zona e una tappa obbligatoria da fare, per conoscere la storia della città e sopratutto per ammirare la sua maestosità. Ora in alcune sere si possono ammirare anche delle proiezioni sulla facciata principale della Basilica, dove viene raccontata tutta la storia e dai bombardamenti alla ristrutturazione, uno spettacolo che vale la pena di vedere. La facciata rimasta intatta conserva tutto il suo fascino antico. Molto interessante da visitare è il museo diocesano all'interno della chiesa con i suoi due percorsi della pseudocripta e dell'ipogeo. The basilica is an imposing building expertly rebuilt after the bombings of the Second World War. The façade remained intact and retains all its ancient charm. Very interesting to visit is the diocesan museum inside the church with its two paths of the pseudocripta and the hypogeum.
