BABILONIA - Italian language school in Sicily, Italy

"Ho avuto modo di avere una esperienza presso la Scuola di lingua italiana Babilonia a Taormina come insegnante accompagnatore di un gruppo di studenti stranieri e il giudizio complessivo è assolutamente positivo sotto ogni punto di vista. Sul fronte del corso di lingua gli insegnanti hanno dimostrato preparazione e la giusta dose di simpatia che certamente aiuta molto nell'apprendimento di una lingua difficile come l'italiano soprattutto a studenti di nazionalità straniera. L'accoglienza è stata buona e non sono mancate tante attività socio-culturali che hanno arricchito l'esperienza degli studenti. La location è semplicemente straordinaria: Taormina e la Sicilia, con la loro ricchezza di cultura e di sapori hanno inoltre arricchito ulteriormente i corsi di lingua italiana diventando anche parte integrante di corsi cosiddetti "extra" in cui l'apprendimento dell'italiano si arricchisce di arte, cucina e cultura. Bene."

BABILONIA è veramente un sogno. Dallo staff e la direzione che sono proprio degli angeli agli insegnanti meravigliosi, semplicemente fantastici, tutto in un posto favoloso come Taormina … cosa puoi chiedere di più? Ho avuto la fortuna di trascorrerci due settimane per un corso di aggiornamento per insegnanti ed è stato il miglior corso che abbia mai fatto nella mia carriera come insegnante. From the staff and management who are absolute angels to the wonderful, simply amazing teachers, all in a fabulous place like Taormina ... what more could you ask for? I had the great fortune to spend two weeks there for teacher training course (through AATI) and it was the best professional development I have ever had in my career as a teacher. ❤ If you have a chance to come here, do it – everything about this place is NUMERO UNO!

I'm usually a very critical person, but I can not think of one thing that could have improved my experience. If you want to jump-start your Italian language skills to the next level, attend Babilonia!

Fantastic instruction in a beautiful place. I spent a week of one-on-one instruction to refresh my Italian, and left feeling fluent and as though my level of language had improved. The staff was impressive, and the location was perfect!

This is a very good school. I’ve been to two others in Italy and this was the best. Highly recommended for those just starting or those at higher levels. I went to Rome afterwards and and had no problem understanding or speaking to anyone.

I was lucky enough to spend three and a half months studying at Babilonia as a university student studying abroad. While I have Italian ancestry and family, I never learned the language. Hence, I chose Babilonia because I thought it would give me the best chance to speak Italian. I was not disappointed! When I arrived in Sicily, I knew only a few Italian words (fettucine, pizza, grazie, etc.). Thanks to Babilonia, I can now have meaningful conversations with my Italian friends and family! Babilonia is a school completely based on immersion; the instructors and staff insist on speaking to you in Italian. This was intimidating at first, but it cultivated a learning environment where communication is valued and you are not judged if you make mistakes with the language. The students continue this environment, who also (while they might fluently speak another common language) always strive to speak Italian together during the many school-organized activities. This is unique among study abroad programs in Italy. Besides the kind and helpful staff and instructors, my host family was amazing. Donatella, Pippo, and Gabri had an amazing amount of patience with me as I learned the language, and always encouraged me to speak—or try to speak. I felt like I was a part of a real family, which made the adjustment seamless and energizing. Oh and the food was amazing as well . Thanks to Babilonia, I had some of the greatest experiences of my life and learned A LOT of Italian. The connections I made with my host family and new Italian friends will last a lifetime…sono contentissimo di aver scelto Babilonia! Grazie mille!

A fantastic place to learn the most beautiful language in the world! Great people, fantasic teachers (Francesca, thank you so much), wonderful reception and the best cappucino to drink before classes in the morning. Definitely a place worth visiting again.

Extremely prepared and engaging teachers, unforgettable setting and great food in Taormina, one of the most enchanting towns in Italy. This is the third year I bring my college students at Babilonia, their experience is always unique and the level of their Italian grew exponentially. Highly recommended
