Nel 1982 sono stati svolti lavori di scavo e restauro dei due grandi mausolei emergenti nella zona di Grottarossa cioè quello quadrangolare e quello c.d. a pianta stellare che si trovava in stato assai precario. Del primo rimane una poderosa struttura di calcestruzzo realizzata a gettate successive compattate, distinte da sottili strati di travertino sminuzzato. Questo tipo di tecnica costruttiva è limitato alla zona grosso modo cubica che si alza per circa 6 metri dall'attuale piano di campagna ed ha 12 metri di lato. Superiormente la struttura si rastrema assumendo una forma cuspidata, raggiungendo un'altezza totale di m 13 circa. L'ingresso attuale, e probabilmente anche quello originario, è sul lato occidentale verso l'antica via Flaminia, ricavato in una larga tamponatura realizzata con grossi scheggioni di tufo nel 1940 (cfr. un carteggio del luglio 1940 presso la Soprintendenza Archeologica di Roma da cui apprendiamo che «Le opere murarie... sono state eseguite per ordine del locale Fascio di Combattimento, perché i ruderi stessi... rappresentano dei ricoveri di primo ordine... in caso di allarme aereo. Naturalmente è stato necessario rimpiccolire le aperture d'ingresso per mettersi al sicuro di schegge»). Attraverso questo si entra in un piccolo ambiente quadrangolare coperto con una volta irregolare rimaneggiata in età successiva. Della sua storia si hanno scarsissime notizie; il sepolcro viene indicato come «Torrone» nella mappa di Eu- frosino della Volpaia del 1547, forse in relazione alle caratteristiche assunte in età medioevale. Nella bibliografia relativa alla via Flaminia si fanno brevi riferimenti a questo monumento che, insieme all'altro grande mausoleo, stava ad indicare il passaggio della strada antica. Nella stessa area è stata rinvenuta anche la via consolare. Il secondo, quello c.d. a pianta stellare (in allegato la pianta e gli interni) , realizzato in calcestruzzo, conserva evidentissime le impronte delle assi lignee orizzontali.

In 1982 excavation and restoration work was carried out on the two large emerging mausoleums in the Grottarossa area, i.e. the quadrangular one and the so-called one. a stellar plant that was in a very precarious state. Of the first, there remains a powerful concrete structure made of successive compacted casts, distinguished by thin layers of crushed travertine. This type of construction technique is limited to the roughly cubic area that rises about 6 meters from the current ground level and has 12 meters on each side. Above the structure tapers assuming a cuspid shape, reaching a total height of about 13 m. The current entrance, and probably also the original one, is on the western side towards the ancient Via Flaminia, obtained from a large infill made with large splinters of tuff in 1940 (see a correspondence dated July 1940 at the Archaeological Superintendence of Rome from to which we learn that "The masonry works ... were carried out by order of the local Fascio di Combattimento, because the ruins themselves ... represent first-rate shelters ... in the event of an air alarm. Of course it was necessary to shrink the openings entrance to be safe from splinters "). Through this one enters a small quadrangular room covered with an irregular vault reworked at a later age. There is very little news of its history; the sepulcher is indicated as «Torrone» in the map of Euphrosino della Volpaia of 1547, perhaps in relation to the characteristics it assumed in the Middle Ages. In the bibliography relating to the Via Flaminia brief references are made to this monument which, together with the other great mausoleum, indicated the passage of the ancient road. The consular road was also found in the same area. The second, the so-called with a stellar plan (the plan and the interiors are attached), made of concrete, it preserves the very evident imprints of the horizontal wooden axes.
