Unfortunatelly Kipchoge runs almost as fast as these trains (66km to Matera in 1:50 hours)

β β β β β Taking the train from Bari to Matera for people not familiar with the changing systems is a challenge: no indication on the train that a change would have to take place at Altamura, no indication in Altamura that a connecting bus leaves outside the station, and on which side of the station (there are two buildings). So, either you are lucky and a local shows you around or you will almost inevitably miss your connection at Altamura.

β β β β β Ticket seller very rude. Looked annoyed, didn't like any questions and wasn't happy about actually selling tickets. The train managed to generate a delay of 40 minutes while in transit (departed only 2 minutes late). Inaccessible toilet on train; it displayed 'in use' for the whole 2 hour ride, no other notice. Be prepared.

β β β β β FAL railway service has improved a lot recently. Bari Central rail station is modern and comfortable. Full of services. You can recharge your phone. Enjoy an Italian breakfast and reaching easily Gravina or Matera. There is possibility of catching train to airport from the lift to the platform junction of ferrotramviaria (Ferrovie Bari Nord)

β β β β β We found the information about the train Bari Centrale - Matera from the locals. There is no information about this train in the internet, even in google maps when you're looking for the transport. Timetable can be checked only in the info office. You can buy the tickets in the automat or in the small shop next to the stairs to the platform. The platform itself is located 100m from Bari Centrale, city center direction. The train is not direct and you must switch for another one in Altamura. There is a very little time to change the trains so be prepared to rush from one platform to another. The whole journey takes around 1h 40min and is pretty slow. The vehicle is clean, rather new and toilets work fine.
