Durante la seconda guerra in uno dei momenti più dolorosi e disastrosi dell'occupazione nazifascista, l'esercito nazista in fuga fece distruggere la torre, quello che è ora visibile è la parte bassa rimessa a nuovo, ma la torre non è più stata ricostruita.
