★ ★ ★ ★ ★ e' una struttura affascinante e da 5 stelle , soprattutto per la parte interrata , ma purtroppo le autorità competenti ne stanno causando la distruzione per incuria . comunque da vedere , forse dopo il colosseo di roma la più grande struttura !!!
it is a fascinating 5-star structure, especially for the underground part, but unfortunately the competent authorities are causing its destruction due to negligence. still to see, perhaps after the colosseum in rome the largest structure !!!

Reso famoso dalle vicende del 73 a.c. legate a Spartaco e alla rivolta dei gladiatori di Capua.
Andato quasi completamente distrutto, nel corso dei secoli utilizzato come cava di estrazione.
Da visitare il museo dell'anfiteatro ove sono in esposizione le lapidi sepolcrali dei gladiatori e alcuni resti che pallidamente ricordano la magnificenza di questo sfortunato monumento.
One of the first, if not the first amphitheater in the Roman world, built in the then "Colonia Iulia Felix Augusta Capua", today Santa Maria Capua Vetere.
Made famous by the events of 73 BC. linked to Spartacus and the revolt of the gladiators of Capua.
Almost completely destroyed, over the centuries it was used as a quarry.
To visit the museum of the amphitheater where the tombstones of the gladiators are on display and some remains that palely recall the magnificence of this unfortunate monument.

I giochi di luci incantano e si respira una atmosfera di un passato lontano in cui la città ha avuto un periodo glorioso....peccato che al di fuori di questo Luogo non si faccia abbastanza per valorizzare un territorio che meriterebbe maggiore attenzione e valorizzazione.
Visited one summer evening during one of the many openings that the city of Santa Maria capua vetere organizes. The play of lights enchant and you can breathe an atmosphere of a distant past in which the city had a glorious period .... pity that outside of this place not enough is done to enhance a territory that would deserve greater attention and enhancement.
