Oltre all'eccellenza tecnica, mette in campo anche una approfonditissima competenza teorica. Una volta gli dissi che intendevo studiare un particolare standard (non ricordo quale) e quando mi presentai a lezione scoprii che aveva trascritto per l'occasione l'assolo che su quel brano aveva inciso John Coltrane, e su quella trascrizione lavorammo: rimasi estremamente colpito dalla profondità dell'approccio didattico. Non so dire per esperienza diretta come lavori con i principianti, ma per come lo conosco - gentile e disponibile - sono certo che sia al top anche in questa situazione. Alessandro was one of the few teachers who left an important mark on my way of playing and dealing with the repertoire. In addition to technical excellence, he also puts in place a very in-depth theoretical competence. Once I told him that I intended to study a particular standard (I don't remember which one) and when I presented myself to class I discovered that he had transcribed for the occasion the solo that John Coltrane had recorded on that piece, and on that transcription we worked: I was extremely impressed from the depth of the didactic approach.
