ReMax realtor Biagio catillo As Americans purchasing a home in Italy from the United States. We were expecting a few more challenges than normal. Combine that with the fact that the home we were wanting to buy was a small inexpensive place. We discovered that our first hurdle was absolutely no American Realtors and very few Italian realtor had any interest  in working for us at all. I was about to give up on the entire idea when someone referred me to Biagio. Then suddenly from the very first email it seem like our dream house was going to be possible after all. After that  Biagio communicated with us through the WhatsApp app   That made everything so much easier for me and I'm sure so much harder for Biagio Because I had all kinds of ridiculous questions!  And every time I thought of the question I would just shoot him a message on WhatsApp, no matter what time of day .  sometime I would forget about the time difference and shoot him a message very late in the evening.  I was shocked how many times he replied immediately when it was well after midnight in his country. The fact that we speak no Italian and Biagio speaks fluent English meant that he had to do all of the negotiating for us, then translate it back to us via WhatsApp.   He also had to drive to the small town our house was in and make videos of the house and even the views from out all of the windows for us! He negotiated a great deal for us and we accepted an offer. Now it was time for us to do a formal offer and deposit and those kinds of things. So now Biagio had to produce English versions of Italian offer contract so we could understand them sign them and return them to him. And of course we made our share of mistakes in this process as well that Biagio had to navigate through with his usual Pleasant attitude! Now finally it was time for us to wire money and fly to Italy. I would like to tell you that this was a simple process from here on but again we made our mistakes! And again Biagio had to navigate through them and he did with this always smiling attitude! Biagio came to the airport to meet us on a Sunday evening and of course we were three hours late because of a delay and they lost my girlfriend's bags!  For the next 10 days we ran this man in circles trying to get through the utilities and everything else you have to do because we had no idea how to do any of this in Italy and we couldn't even speak the language ! that meant Biagio had to be right there with us the whole time!  And through all of this Biagio had some connections at the airport and they were trying  to locate my girlfriend's bag which he did! In short after a couple of trips to the utility office, three trips to the airport and three trips to the notary office we now own our vacation home in Castiglione Sicily!  I want to recap here and say we were two Americans buying a house site  unseen in a country on the other side of the world ! wiring money across the world, making several mistakes along the way! This could have all gone very very badly for us had Biagio not been so good at his job!   And this was a very inexpensive house with the very small Commission!   We are never going to be the type of people that ever make a million dollar deal. But I can tell you this if I was going to make a million dollar deal I wouldn't hesitate and having Biagio handle the deal for me! Hardest working real estate agent I have ever met!
