★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A hidden gem tucked away in the vichi. Delicious pasta, incredible wine and the best calamari I've ever eaten. And you can't beat the atmosphere. If you're in Belmonte Calabro make sure to stop by for a meal or drinks before you leave!

My husband and I enjoyed our relaxing 2-night stay at A Taverna. Francesco was an accommodating and wonderful host. He gave us tips about the area and shared about its history. The bed was the comfiest of our trip, and the room was spacious with a beautiful view of the city’s rooftops and below the ocean from the balcony. I personally appreciated the hair dryer. I’ve rarely been anywhere so quiet and peaceful, and still we did have good cell service throughout the old city.
The seafood and wine at Francesco’s restaurant was exceptional. We enjoyed walking around the old city and seeing the many tiny cats. I highly recommend an escape to this special place.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We stayed here for 6 nights and kept extending our stay because we had such a great time. We had the pleasure to be in the warm and welcoming presence of Francesco, his wife, and George. We got amazing food, with tuna caught locally, great pastas, and crispy croissants every morning. The place is nicely kept. It has an incredible view over the mountains, and the historical center of Belmonte Calabro is charming and unique. The garden where the meals are served is very cozy with lemon trees, grape vines and beautiful flowers growing all around. The beach at Marina is a fresh hike from La Taverna with good trails through the hills. We had an amazing time, and we can’t wait to come visit again!
