★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A relaxing as well as exciting experience at Quellenhof Day Spa! The so called "Aufguss" events at the sauna are truly unique. At least I have never experienced something like this before. It was super cool!
Also, last but not least, the staff takes the experience at Quellenhof from very good to great.
Thank you!!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Let’s just start off by saying that this hotel is not 5 star hotel.
The rooms in Forellenhof where we stayed could be considered 3.5. The rooms had spider webs in the ceiling. Carpet was old and needed renovation. Mattress hard as a rock.
The hotel in itself had no flow. There were no real signs anywhere to tell you were things were. We found ourselves wondering around walking up and downs steps to get to pools.
Cleanliness was a problem. The staircase leading to the family sauna area was full of dust and hair. As the days past during our stay the dust and hairs accumulated. We walked past what looked like a plastic bag full of rubbish that was dumped by some guests. We greeted this bag of rubbish for 7 days and made a joke about how there are no cleaning staff around picking it up.
The family pool area is not served. I would expect a 5 star hotel to have drinks being served at the sun beds but you had to walk down a very steep path to get drinks. Also the grass was too long and not maintained.
Dinner was great. The chef/s cooked really well and the food is really top. 5 star for the food. The downside at dinner was that I felt observed by the waiting staff. As soon as I took an olive pip out of my mouth a waitress rushed over and took my plate, and quickly served the next course. It was a huge stress. I once I asked for a break before the next course and this was totally ignored.
Also at dinner the “owner” came around to greet the guests and proceeded to greet us in Italian which is fine, that is 1 language that we speak. However overhearing him speak to the German guests in German (also our language) we could hear that he spoke down about Italians
Prices: everything at this hotel costs extra. Your looking at 10 euros per glass of anything alcoholic. So before dinner, Spritz 10 euros, wine at dinner 13 euros, gin tonic 15 euros, water 5 euros per bottle. Your looking at spending around 100 euros per night in drinks for a family of 4. Plus around 50 euros for lunch and this is before paying for any activities like bikes.
This on top of a very pricey 5000k euros for 1 week in a tiny bedroom and dirty hotel was for me too much. Value for money doesn’t add up.
So for this reason we will not come back to this hotel.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Super nice and big location with very friendly staff. Just amazing :D! Our room was great and although we stayed just a night, we were as much relaxed as possible when we left :) The Hotel consists of several buildings and offers a vast variety of entertainment, food and of course a lot of relaxation and wellness areas. We appreciated that Mr. Dorfer (Father and Owner of the Resort) welcomed us in person on our arrival. Great for families and couples! :)

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ You get the huge room you're paying for, very smart, but the best is the dinner, high Gault Millaut quality, included in the half pension arrangement.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I just got back from my family holiday of 6 nights there. Let me start with the positives -
1. Food really good
2. General service staff really nice
3. Nice settings
4. Various activities for kids
Unfortunately the positives above can’t remove this nagging feeling that for some reason my family was dismissed a few times on purpose at the evening dinner. I’m not sure which part of our family profile that didn’t suit them. Maybe because I’m a single mum with 3 kids (most are the standard configuration), My family is not the normal skin color of the majority of the guests. Our family language is English and so amongst us we speak English but my kids are educated in German part of Switzerland and are proficient in German. I can carry out basic german conversation.
Incident 1 - out of the 6 evenings, on 3 of them a restaurant manager was going round asking the guests how are things etc. They skipped my table twice and once he came round and gave me somewhat of an uncomfortable smile but at least some form of acknowledgement. Still a nice smile speaks volumes. So we might not be able to converse like other guests but a nice appreciative smile would mean something to any guests.
Incident 2 - last evening of my stay, a photographer was engaged to take a picture of the guests at dinner time. She went round to the tables around me but skipped us. We sat in between 3 families. To give her some benefit of the doubt I thought I needed to express my interest earlier so I waited for dinner service to be quiet and asked the waitress. She said no. She should have come round to my table. Waitress apologized on the photographer’s behalf and asked if I wanted her to come round and by that time 2 of my sons went back to the room and weren’t around. Understandably I wasn’t happy and was also no longer in the mood to have my photo taken by someone who obviously did not want to take our pictures.
I do not want to think I’ve been discriminated but I do feel I have been. Such a shame to have spent so much and to have finally a vacation (especially during covid times) and feel like i should have gone somewhere else. Now I need another vacation.
