★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Nel 1978 gli scavi archeologici all’interno dell’ex monastero dei Benedettini, anticamente nota come la collina di Monte vergine, hanno confermato un’imponente e stratificata urbanizzazione dell’area fin dall'epoca neolitica: sono state rinvenute strutture di edifici del VI e del IV sec. a.C., appartenenti alla fase più antica della colonia calcidese, ed é stata rinvenuta una strada romana lastricata. Nel sito di piazza Dante sorgeva l’acropoli ed è stata rinvenuta una Terme romana.
In 1978 the archaeological excavations inside the former Benedictine monastery, formerly known as the hill of Monte Vergine, confirmed an impressive and stratified urbanization of the area since the Neolithic era: structures of buildings from the VI and of the IV sec. a.C., belonging to the most ancient phase of the Calcidese colony, and a paved Roman road was found. On the site of Piazza Dante rose the acropolis and a Roman Bath was found.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Secchio della monnezza aperto nel caldo estivo, sotto il cartello di punto di interesse storico: leggendo si sente il "profumo". Muro del cancello e di recinzione imbrattato di scritte. Spero che presto qn pubblichi di questo posto una foto di una Catania che fa onore alle sue meraviglie.
Bucket of garbage opened in the summer heat, under the sign of point of historical interest: reading the "scent" is felt. Gate wall and fence smeared with lettering. I hope that soon qn will publish a photo of a Catania that honors its wonders.
