★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Nel sito archeologico di Cuma sono presenti due templi. Il Tempio di Apollo ha una storia interessante. Sorge dove in precedenza era stato edificato dai greci, intorno al VI-V secolo a.C., un altro tempio dedicato ad Era, (materiale votivo è stato trovato nei pressi di una vicina cisterna). Ricostruito nel periodo romano augusteo, quando per volere dello stesso imperatore tutti i luoghi ricordati ell'eneide vennero restaurati.
Virgilio infatti racconta che Enea, fermatosi a Cuma, raggiunse questo tempio, edificato da Dedalo, il quale al suo interno consacrò ad Apollo le sue ali che gli avevano permesso di fuggire dal labirinto. Nell'VIII secolo il tempio venne trasformato in basilica cristiana, con la conseguente costruzione di un fonte battesimale e di alcune tombe nel pavimento, poi abbandonato.
In the archaeological site of Cuma there are two temples. The Temple of Apollo has an interesting history. It stands where another temple dedicated to Hera was built by the Greeks around the 6th-5th century BC (votive material was found near a nearby cistern). Rebuilt in the Roman Augustan period, when all the places mentioned in the idide were restored by the emperor himself.
Virgil is said that Enea, standing Cuma, reached this temple, built by Daedalus, who within it consecrated to Apollo his wings that had allowed him to escape from the labyrinth. In the eighth century the temple was transformed into a Christian basilica, with the consequent construction of a baptismal font and some tombs in the floor, later abandoned.
